How to Show or hide out of stock products in Magento

The process is fairly straight forward

Show out of stock products in Magento  

  1. Login to the Magento backend
  2. Open the menu System-Configuration.
  3. Go to inventory tab from the left panel
  4. Set Display "out of stock" products to "Yes" in Stock options tab in the right panel
  5. Reindex your store

Now you can get see your products in front end, even if the items are "Out of stock".


Hide products on Magento store that are "Out of stock"

  1. Login to the Magento backend
  2. Open the menu System-Configuration.
  3. Go to inventory tab from the left panel
  4. Set Display "out of stock" products to "No" in Stock options tab in the right panel
  5. Reindex your store

Now you'll only see your products in front end when visiting directly the product page.
